Alphanso Tech to Exhibit at ACCES 2021, Johannesburg, South Africa

Organized by the Music In Africa Foundation, ACCES is the leading pan-African music business event that is held in a different African city each year. This year’s edition takes place from 25 to 27 November at Constitution Hill and Sci-Bono Discovery Centre in Johannesburg. 

From November 25-27, 2021, Johannesburg will host the Music In Africa Conference For Exchange, Showcases, and Collaboration. In one of the essential events for the pan-African music industry, around 80 artists and more than 50 speakers will be performing. ACCES provides an opportunity for professionals from the global music industry and African to make business connections, exchange ideas, and discover new trends and talents. 

Industry talks, workshops, concerts, pitch and networking sessions, and an exhibition are few among the highlights of the multifaceted program. The event is organized by the Music In Africa Foundation, collaborating with the Goethe-Institut, Reeperbahn Festival International, and the Siemens Stiftung.

Some of the top speakers of the program this week include singer Msaki (South Africa), Visa For Music project manager Afaf Abahoua (Morocco), music industry entrepreneur Siya ‘Slikour’ Metane (South Africa), Akum Agency founder Jess White (South Africa), rapper Gigi Lamayne (South Africa), Dakar Music Expo founder Dudu Sarr (Senegal), Afro Nation Ghana producer Ruddy Kwakye (Ghana), entrepreneur & content marketer Phil Chard (Zimbabwe), music journalist & media strategist Shiba Melissa Mazaza (South Africa), Ongala Festival director Aziza Ongala (Tanzania), and Authors and Publishers Association CEO Jotam Matariro.

To coincide with the registration announcement, ACCES confirmed the first batch of acts that will perform at the event, including Ikati Esengxoweni, Diamond Thug, Msaki, and Urban Village. There are more artists who are going to be part of the event. Besides a dynamic line-up of musicians, ACCES has collaborated with Reeperbahn Festival to introduce breathtaking acts from the diaspora, which will collaborate, participate, and perform in a skills transfer workshop during the conference.

ACCES will also present an appealing program, including live performances, keynotes, panel discussions, awards, networking sessions, exhibitions, and workshops. The conference program features a vibrant roster of industry experts and global musicians, including global superstar Gigi Lamayne, Master KG, Msaki, Busiswa, Slikour, Priddy Ugly, who are among more than 50 workshop facilitators and speakers confirmed for the music trade show.

Workshops

With previous editions, ACCES 2021 will offer interactive workshops targeting producers, musicians, independent music marketers, and sound engineers. The workshop program reflects the conference’s concept to embolden music professionals with fresh skills and knowledge. This year, the conference will offer four meticulously designed workshops led by Ditto Music’s Wendy Verwey Bekker, Akum Agency’s Jess White, hip hop artist Gigi Lamayne, and producers 37mph and Muzi.

Honoring South African Music Legends

ACCES will kick off on 25 November. It will begin with the Music In Africa Honorary Award ceremony, where Thandiswa Mazwai and Vusi Mahlasela will be awarded. The South African legends will be honored for their notable contribution to their home country’s music industry, that of Africa as a whole. They will follow previous award recipients, including Baaba Maal (2017), Eric Wainaina (2018), Bibie Brew (2019), and Ebo Taylor (2019).

Exhibitions 

Curated exhibition areas will be hosted by ACCES at Sci-Bono Discovery Centre, where service providers and innovators in the music industry will get to present their ideas and products throughout the duration of the music conference. This year marks the continuation of the Exhibitor Hubs, a unique and innovative, tech-oriented space where companies and organizations will present their products and services.

ACCES 2021 will program a number of Pitch Sessions, providing ideal opportunities that startups can utilize to present their ideas to an audience of collaborators, potential partners, clients & funders.
